Bill Reid is a Photographer and Creative Director based in Sacramento, California.
I've had a camera from an early age. My parents gave me my first, a Kodak Brownie 127, to use on trips into the African bush. My best friend's dad was a surveyor in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia, in those times) and I would never leave home without it. If I'd known then what I know now, I would have had my parents supply me with more than the one roll of film my dad loaded for me.
Later, when I started working, my first SLR was a Minolta SRT101 which I mainly used to document travels.
During a trip back to Africa for a family visit, my wife and I visited a game reserve where I photographed the wildlife. The pictures hung on a wall in our living room and friends and relatives asked why I didn't have a website to display them. One thing led to another and I began to take a lot more photographs.
In March of 2015 I decided to venture out into the streets after work and photograph strangers in the streets. Little did I know that some strangers would later become strangers no more and ask for pictures for social media profiles, model portfolios etc.
The rest is history. The more I worked with people, the more I enjoyed it.
I'm grateful that you are here reading this and hope you find an interest my work.
